I’ve resisted for too long

19 Feb

For about a month I’ve been resisting the urge to list 25 facts about myself or other such nonsense on facebook. Fortunately for you Chelsea-lovers, my narcissism has finally won out. I got this list of 20 firsts from Rachel T. Thanks for helping me waste some time at work!

1. Who was your first love? Sean Peterson – I think it goes all the way back to kindgergarten.

2. Who was your first kiss and when? First kiss ever – random boy at the ice skating rink when I was 16. First kiss that counts – Andy at Prom. I was sick of him not kissing me, so I finally made the first move. I’m awesome like that 😉

3. Who was your first prom date? Andy Wasden, see above.

4. Who was your first roommate? Does Molly count? Otherwise I’ve never had a “room” roommate. I lived with Heather, Abby, Ann Marie and crazy Julie my freshman year of college. Is it sad that I only ever refer to her as crazy Julie?

5. What was your first job? Snow cone technician at Glacier’s Yummy Ice.

6. What was your first car? 1993 Buick Skylark. Oh Dina, how I DON’T miss you.

7. When did you go to your first funeral? The first one I can remember was my grandma’s about 4 years ago.

8. There was no #8 on this list, so I’m making up my own random fact. First time you got a speeding ticket? That would be NEVER.

9. How old were you when you first moved away from your hometown? Never, unless you count Sugar House as “away”.

10. Who was your first grade teacher? Mrs. Hallowell. She taught me what the word perseverant means.

11. Where did you go on your first ride on an airplane? I think it was to go to Colorado to stay with my aunt while my family traveled the globe without us. I am just guessing that we flew, I can’t actually remember the plane ride.

13. Where did you go for your first date and who was it with? My first date was with Andy Wasden. (Didn’t know he’d pop up so much on this quiz haha.) We went to the Sadie Hawkins dance, ice blocking and to Wingers. My wallet got stolen at the restaurant so I had to use the cash my mom left us for food because they went out of town.

14. When you snuck out of your house for the first time, who was it with? I can’t really remember ever sneaking out. Mostly I was a curfew breaker. My parents never stayed awake, so I never had to come home to check in and then sneak back out. Wait, once Molly and I snuck out with our car before we were licensed drivers.

15. Who was your first best friend and are you still friends with them? Vienna Boyd and we’re facebook friends. Somehow I don’t think that counts.

16. Who was the first person to send you flowers? My mom. She’s nice.

17. Where did you live the first time you moved out of your parents house? Possibly the most ghetto house in all of Sugar House. We had outside plants growing in through our windows. You can’t beat $230 a month for your own room though.

18. This one was also missing from the list. Let’s do first time you failed a test? 8th grade geography. Often times I can I fool people into thinking I’m smarter than I am. Unfortunately, I was unable to fool Mr. Funk. I failed our quiz nearly every week.

19. Who’s wedding were you in the first time you were a bridesmaid or a groomsman? Christian and JoLynne.

20. What is the first thing you do in the morning? Hit snooze about 5 times, think of several excuses I could use to get out of going to school/work, decide that I have to go because I’ve inevitably missed too much time already and then force myself to get up. Then I put in my contacts and brush my teeth.

Sister DiFrancesco

11 Feb

Well guys, since I haven’t posted in more than 5 weeks, I figured I ought to post something about the DiFrancesco family’s newest missionary.

We took Molly to the MTC on Jan. 28 accompanied with lots of hugs and tears. Well, lots of tears on the family’s part and few tears on Molly’s. She was really nervous about the MTC portion of the mission. (I think she was worried that she would hate it.) She couldn’t help but mock the other sisters we saw. Once we got into the welcome meeting though, I think she started to get excited.

She wrote us a letter that first night. Everyone she met was very friendly – “genuinely interested, not just nice because they have to be”. She has two companions. At first she really liked them, but her next letter informed us that the “honeymoon was over”. She and Sis. Tweede don’t really get along. Luckily, they have another Sister to help them work things out. I told her it’s just another great reason to play “what I like about you”. Kyle will be so happy.

They taught their first lesson to mock investigators 4 days after she got there. She said it was the hardest thing she’s ever done, but they got through it. She’s praying a lot and has realized that obedience is KEY. I have to say, I find that very ironic since she always swore she would be a rebelious rule breaking missionary. (Little rules of course, not the big ones.) It looks like she will now be toe-ing the line.

Funny story: On their way to a devotional an Elder asked them how well they sing. Molly’s comp replied that they didn’t sing “well,” but they were ok. He then proceeded to ask them not to sit by him because the last sisters he sat by sang so terribly that they totally ruined the spirit for him. Then he turned and walked away. HAHAHA. Probably the most hilarious thing I have ever heard.

Overall, Molly is loving the MTC and learning so much about the Gospel. She has never worked so hard in her life, but has also never felt so good. I’m so proud of what she’s doing and what a great missionary she will be.
